3 Unique Bloody Mary Recipes to Impress Your Guests

The only thing that can beat a Bloody Mary is Bloody Marys. You can’t go wrong with the tried and true classic, but sometimes you want to experiment, right? Whether you’re swapping vodka for tequila or testing different garnishes, unique recipes can turn your Bloody Mary-skeptic guests into full-on fans.

Here are three unique Bloody Mary recipes to be the host with the most. Unlike Goldilocks, we think you’ll find that all of them are *just right*.

Aquavit Bloody Mary

First on deck is the aquavit Bloody Mary. Aquavit (aka akvavit) (aka “water of life”) is a Scandinavian spirit distilled with dill, caraway, and other spices. Get ready to swim in botanical flavors as you enjoy an herby Bloody—bonus points if you garnish it with herbs you grew yourself.

Recipe
Small lime wedge
Demitri’s Original RimShot Rim Salt
6-8 ounces tomato juice
1-2 teaspoons Demitri’s Classic Bloody Mary Seasoning
1-2 ounces aquavit (most liquor stores should have it in stock)
Ice

Directions

  1. Gently moisten the rim of a 12-16 ounce glass with lime, then press into a saucer of Demitri’s RimShot Rim Salt.
  2. Combine Demitri’s Bloody Mary Seasoning with tomato juice, aquavit, and ice in a cocktail shaker and roll between another shaker or glass to gently blend all the ingredients.
  3. Pour the mixture into the glass and garnish (see our suggestions at the end).
  4. Squeeze the lime wedge onto the top of the drink and serve.

Gin Bloody Mary

Some people call it a Bloody Margaret or a Red Snapper, but we call a gin Bloody Mary plain delicious. With hints of juniper berry and citrus, gin perfectly complements the heat of a traditional Bloody Mary. So put that tonic water back in the fridge and give a gin Bloody Mary a mix instead.

Recipe
Small lime wedge
Demitri’s Original RimShot Rim Salt
6-8 ounces tomato juice
1-2 teaspoons Demitri’s Bloody Mary Seasoning (try a spicier variety like chipotle habanero for some kick)
1-2 ounces gin
Ice

Directions

  1. Gently moisten the rim of a 12-16 ounce glass with lime, then press into a saucer of Demitri’s RimShot Rim Salt.
  2. Combine Demitri’s Bloody Mary Seasoning with tomato juice, gin, and ice in a cocktail shaker and roll between another shaker or glass to gently blend all the ingredients.
  3. Pour the mixture into the glass and garnish (see our suggestions at the end).
  4. Squeeze the lime wedge onto the top of the drink and serve.

Beer Float Bloody Mary

St. Paddy’s Day is coming up, and sometimes you want to join the celebrations without skipping out on your favorite brunch cocktail. As luck would have it, a beer float Bloody Mary lets you get the best of both worlds. Putting a layer of Guinness beer on top of your standard Bloody Mary looks cool—and the chocolate and coffee notes add a festive flavor.

Recipe
Demitri’s Original Rimshot
6-8 ounces tomato juice
1-2 teaspoons Demitri’s Classic Bloody Mary Seasoning
1-2 ounces vodka
Ice
2 ounces Guinness or your favorite stout

Directions

  1. Gently moisten the rim of a 12-16 ounce glass, then press into a saucer of Demitri’s RimShot Rim Salt.
  2. Combine Demitri’s Bloody Mary Seasonings with tomato juice, vodka, and ice in a cocktail shaker and roll between another shaker or glass to gently blend all the ingredients.
  3. Pour the mixture into the glass.
  4. Just before serving, top with Guinness and garnish (see our suggestions at the end).

Last but not least: Garnishes

You show up dressed to impress, and so should your cocktails. Fun garnishes amp up any Bloody Mary, no matter which base you choose. Brunch calls for bright, light, and fresh toppings, so try out some cucumber, pepperoncini, olives, and pickled veggies. And while football season is over, ESPN still has your Sundays covered. Make any game day a winning one with chicken wings, beef jerky, pepperoni straws, and mini anything (yeah, that means sliders).

Got whatcha need?

When you’re using a quality Bloody Mary mix like Demitri’s, the possibilities are endless. Change up the liquor (or leave it out for your non-imbibing guests). Add a splash of OJ or grapefruit juice. Even top your Bloody Mary with beer. Or go wild and try Demitri’s ultimate Bloody Mary sampler to mix and match all the varieties. Here’s to enjoying unique Bloody Marys, whether it’s a special occasion or a regular weekend (if you ask us, that’s pretty special, too). Cheers!
