Cocktail Trends to Follow in 2022

Cocktail Trends to Follow in 2022

2021 had its ups and downs, but some things remain the same: the beverage industry is booming and evolving to meet the demands of a more consciously aware consumer base.

Continue reading to learn more about the cocktail trends you should be following in 2022!

Sustainable and Healthy Drinks

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to disrupt the world, consumers are feeling a higher sense of social responsibility and are actively looking for healthier and more sustainable products across the board, including in their drink selections.

2021 saw the rise of zero-waste, sustainable cocktails. That trend is expected to continue and expand into 2022 as one-third of people in the United States plan to drink more sustainably created cocktails this year. It’s not enough to simply use recyclable materials or compostable packaging – a 2021 OpenText survey found that 88% of global consumers want to purchase products sourced in a more ethical manner, with 83% saying they would be willing to pay more for goods that are sustainably produced.

Along with products that make for a healthier planet, people are also looking for drinks that make for a healthier person. Kombucha, the fermented tea-based drink, has seen a massive influx of interest as consumers tire of hard seltzer but continue to turn toward lower ABV cocktails. According to Kombucha Brewers International, hard kombucha sales increased from roughly $1.7 million in 2017 to more than $12 million in 2019. That expansion is expected to continue well into 2022.

Premium Prepared Drinks

Bars and restaurants are back to in-person dining, but some patrons are still wary of crowded public places. That wariness, however, has not curbed the desire for premium libations; it’s merely altered how they wish to consume them.

Prepared and pre-packed cocktails have been around for years, but their quality has vastly improved as consumers look for drinks to enjoy from the comfort of their own homes. 14% of consumers, according to the Barcardi Consumer Survey, said they tried ready-to-drink (RTD) cocktails for the first time in 2021.

We understand the desire for premium drinks to enjoy at home – that’s why our all-natural Bloody Mary seasonings have performed so well and won numerous rewards. Our seasonings are fresh, zesty, and contain an unmatchable flavor that will outperform your current Bloody Mary recipe every time.

Tequila on the Rise

Drizly, the online liquor store, believes tequila could come for vodka’s top stop as the most popular spirit of 2022.

According to Drizly’s annual BevAlc Insights Retail Report, nearly 80% of retailers plan to carry more tequila in 2022. It makes sense – tequila sales have recently risen by 13%, while vodka sales are down by 2%.

If tequila sales are on the rise, margarita sales are sure to follow. Master the art of the perfect margarita with our all-natural and organic Margarita Mix!
